New England Free Press was a movement printer and publisher from 1967 to 1981. Of the roughly 300 titles we published, about a third focused on women's liberation. Taken together, these articles – by such writers as Marge Piercy, Angela Davis, Betsy Warrior, Roxanne Dunbar, Barbara Ehrenreich, Isaac Asimov and Pricilla Long – form a treasury of feminist thinking from that time.

The purpose of this website is to provide a free online archive of New England Free Press publications for researchers and those interested in independent publishing and/or grassroots movements of the ’60s and ’70s. Many of these pamphlets are as good as they ever were. We hope that all will inspire conversation and action among today’s progressive agitators and activists.

So far we've scanned and uploaded most of the women's liberation pamphlets; these are now available to view, download, and distribute. We encourage you to check back often, as this is an evolving site: we are working on scanning the rest of the catalog, and there are a few other related projects in the works.
